About This Spot
Stepping into Portside Steak and Seafood Restaurant in Thunder Bay, you’re welcomed by a quiet warmth that feels inviting rather than flashy. The space carries a humble, lived-in charm, where the focus clearly leans toward the comfort of familiar flavors and genuine hospitality. The pace is unhurried, offering room for relaxed conversation and moments that feel both effortless and sincere.

The decor is refreshingly unpretentious, allowing the food and company to take center stage without distraction.
The menu reflects this grounded spirit, spotlighting hearty and thoughtfully crafted dishes. Imagine the satisfying sizzle of a flame-broiled New York striploin seasoned with Montreal spice, or the delicate balance of citrus and smokiness in a perfectly baked Atlantic salmon. These aren’t just meals; they are moments savored alongside casual pours from the bar, where cocktails like the espresso martini or a classic Caesar offer a warm, familiar nod to Canadian cocktail culture.
Service here carries a personal touch, marked by attentive staff who move with quiet confidence and a welcoming ease. The decor is old and very non-eventful. The food is, however, very good. Service is great and friendly.

I ordered meatball pasta and garlic bread. The food was good, but nothing special or amazing. But I like the interior design and decoration of the dinning space. The staffs were doing their jobs very efficiently, I met a waitress called Helen, she was so friendly and helpful, that night she was not busy so I had a nice chat with her and another customer. It was a great dining experience and I revisited this restaurant on next day noon, although the food can still be improved a little bit more.

Wonderful lunch with the ACW from St. Michael's. The food was delicious. Table was nicely set, coffee carafes on the table, jugs with ice water as well. The staff was great. One waitress took all the orders and then other people helped bring out meals as there were 22 people in the room. We had reserved the room at the end of the restaurant. Not sure if it has a name or not.
